United Engine Corporation is to deliver two GTN-16R gas compressor units to Bovanenkovo oil and gas condensate field on the Yamal in October 2024. This is the largest field on the peninsula, which is a strategic oil and gas-bearing region of Russia.
GTN-16R 16MW gas compressor units have been produced by Rybinsk-based UEC-Gas Turbines to outfit Bovanenkovo field since 2013. The equipment to be supplied in the next year will use AL-31ST engines.
“Rostec has been supplying gas compressor units to Gazprom’s Bovanenkovo field during ten years, their total output is higher than 500MW. Over these years, gas production and transport to the Russian Unified Gas Supply System have more than doubled. Integrated supply of the advanced and reliable domestically-made industrial equipment built by United Engine Corporation contributes greatly to the solution of the important national task,” pointed out Andrey Vorobyev, General Director of UEC-Engineering.
GTN-16R advantage is in that various types of gas turbine engines with an appropriate output may be used without any significant change in the design of the units. GTN-16R is operated from PS-90-GP2 power plants made by UEC-Perm Engines and AL-31ST power plants made by Ufa-based UEC-UMPO.
